Childcare priority

Children whose parents live in the municipality of Chêne-Bourg.

The Le Polichinelle nursery school is located on the ground floor of a residential building and benefits from a directly adjoining playground. The Polichinelle team welcomes children on a half-day basis and supports them in their various learning experiences and discoveries. The multi-age approach, meaning groups of children of different ages, allows for the development of richer social skills.

The main educational aims are:

  • A warm and secure welcome that fosters children’s emotional and social development.

  • An active pedagogical approach that encourages independence, curiosity and respect for each child’s individual pace.

  • A wide range of activities that enable children to discover, explore and experiment.

The values that underpin our ongoing reflections on the educational and institutional project are:

  • Enjoyment

  • Kindness and respect

  • Listening and communication

  • Independence, freedom and choice

Mélanie Nemeskeri
daycare manager

Passionate about early childhood education, I place great importance on building close, trusting relationships with families, as well as on teamwork that ensures continuity and a high-quality welcome on a daily basis. After obtaining my qualification as an early years educator in Geneva in 2010, I worked with children in various settings across the canton and completed a range of continuing professional development courses. In particular, I have developed my skills in communication, leadership and coaching in order to give meaning to my work and to carry it out with enjoyment.

“Empathy is the driving force behind positive education; it enables us to understand the child and to support them in their development.”- Isabelle Filliozat
